What Do We Call It Podcast Ep:6 Black lives matter, others not so much
Black lives matter (BLM) had planned a protest at the Mall of America the night before Christmas eve, which happens to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year. But organizers are now saying it was just a decoy to draw resources away from the real targets, the MSP International airport and the light rail system from the mall to the airport.
About 500 "protesters" showed up at the mall Wednesday chanting "what do we want, JUSTICE, when do we want it, NOW" causing stores and shops to close their doors for over a hour. Causing not only business to loose money but employees also to lose out on probably much needed overtime. Employees who by the way most likely only make minimum wage.
Protesters at the mall then suddenly walked out and headed for the light rail where they boarded and left for the airport.
once at the airport they made a human chain and shut down roads in and out of the airport causing some travelers to walk the last mile to their terminals. One lady said she had to leave gifts she had gotten for her family that she was going to visit because she couldn't carry everything the mile to the terminal.
So who are these fools disrupting? Was the 4th precinct affected? No, did it help the plight of the minorities living in north MPLS? Again nope, instead their affecting people who had NOTHING to do with the shooting of Jamar Clark, not only that but they are ruining what little good reputation BLM has left. People who believe in their cause are now seeing that their message might not be what they claim.
the consensus on social media seems to be that the group has taken things too far, its one thing to PEACEFULLY and RESPECTFULLY demonstrate, but to take it to private property (MOA) and affect peoples business, employment, and safety is SELFISH, dangerous and actually harmful to their cause.
